Kanchanjangha Tea Estate

Kanchanjangha Tea Estate is located in the Panchthar district in eastern Nepal, at the foot of Kanchenjunga, at altitudes between 1,300 and 1,800 metres. Deepak Prakash Baskota founded the estate in 1984 as the very first organically certified tea garden in Nepal. More than 150 farmers are directly involved, and more than seventy per cent of the workers are women.

The estate operates as a cooperative model in which farmers are both workers and co-owners. Son Nishchal Baskota founded Nepal Tea Collective to bring the tea directly from the garden to consumers worldwide, without intermediaries.
