Cha Camelia

Chá Camélia is located in Fornelo, near Vila do Conde in northern Portugal, where Nina Gruntkowski and Dirk Niepoort transformed an abandoned vineyard into a tea garden. They learnt their production techniques from Haruyo and Shigeru Morimoto, a Japanese couple with decades of experience. Today the garden counts more than twelve thousand plants.

In 2019, eight years after starting out, the first harvest followed. The tea has its own profile: fresh and mineral, with a light saltiness that is characteristic of the Atlantic coastal climate. Picking and processing are done entirely by hand.
