Description

Cinnamon Cigar is a creation from Kaley Tea Estate in Sri Lanka. The tea takes the distinctive form of a small cigar. The leaves are first steamed and pan-fired, then hand-rolled around a fresh cinnamon leaf and bound together. Kaley selects exactly twenty-four leaves per cigar. A straightforward idea, executed with the precision and craftsmanship that Kaley is known for.

As the tea steeps, the flavours release gradually: gentle cinnamon warmth flows together with light berry notes and a fresh, citrusy nuance.

The infusion has a delicate, sweet aroma. The flavour is soft and rounded, predominantly sweet with a refined spiced quality, in which the natural warmth of cinnamon complements the softness of the green tea.

The story behind the tea: Kaley Tea Estate

The name Kaley means "forest" in Sinhala, and that translates directly into the way they work: at Enasaldola Estate in Kotapola (Sri Lanka), tea bushes grow among tropical greenery, twelve kilometres from the Sinharaja rainforest.

The Wickremesooriya family has been growing organic tea here since 2015, without chemicals, hand-picked and processed by hand. In 2024, Kaley Tea Estate won a special sustainability award at The Leafies in London.
