Description

Dong Fang Mei Ren, crafted by Wang Family Tea, originates from the warm regions of Taiwan, particularly Beipu and Emei in the northwest. Interestingly, tea jassids feed on the young tea leaves before harvesting. This natural interaction triggers a unique reaction within the leaves, creating the tea’s distinctively sweet and fruity flavor.

The amber colored infusion offers a delicate aroma of cherry blossoms. When tasting, you’ll notice notes of muscat grape, honey, cherry and even a hint of pastry.

Internationally, this oolong tea is known as Oriental Beauty. According to legend, a British queen gave the tea this name after being charmed by its flavour. Whether it was Queen Victoria or Queen Elizabeth II remains uncertain, but the name has endured ever since.

The story behind the tea: Wang Family Tea

In the mountainous Nantou County in central Taiwan, the Wang family has been producing oolong for four generations. Joshua and Ivy, the youngest generation, work together with fellow tea farmers from areas such as Alishan, Dong Ding and Sun Moon Lake.

Wang Family Tea is today the only internationally selling tea company fully owned by Taiwanese tea farmers, without brokers or intermediaries.
