Ginger Cigar is an innovative creation from Kaley Tea Estate in Sri Lanka. The tea takes the distinctive form of a small cigar, carefully hand-rolled from black tea leaves tightly wrapped around fresh ginger. A simple idea, crafted with the precision and skill Kaley is known for.

As it dries, the leaves and ginger develop a warm, spicy aroma. When brewed, the flavours unfold gradually: the sharp heat of ginger merges with the malty depth of black tea.

The infusion turns deep copper and carries a full, spicy scent. The taste is round and warm, with the natural sharpness of ginger balanced by the softness of malt.

The story behind the tea: Kaley Tea Estate

The name Kaley means "forest" in Sinhala, and that translates directly into the way they work: at Enasaldola Estate in Kotapola (Sri Lanka), tea bushes grow among tropical greenery, twelve kilometres from the Sinharaja rainforest.

The Wickremesooriya family has been growing organic tea here since 2015, without chemicals, hand-picked and processed by hand. In 2024, Kaley Tea Estate won a special sustainability award at The Leafies in London.
