Kanchenjunga Muscat is a black tea from Lama Tea Garden in the Teesta Valley, in Darjeeling (India), run by Sonam Paljor Lama. He learned to process tea in the Chinese provinces of Zhejiang and Fujian. Today he applies those same techniques, in contrast to the standardised processing used by most Darjeeling estates.
The tea plants naturally have a deep woody undertone and a pronounced fruity character. In 2026, about 60% of the picked tea leaves were bitten by small insects. The tea plant responded with scent compounds that bring a fruity, spicy sweetness.
The tea plants grow among the trees of the forest that surrounds the garden. The soil here has never known the depletion of centuries of plantation farming. Sonam uses no chemical pesticides.
Storing loose leaf tea correctly is important to preserve its freshness and flavour. Keep it away from the four elements that affect quality: air, heat, light, and moisture.
