Sakare Green is a green tea from northeastern Tanzania, produced by the Sakare Tea Cooperative in the Usambara Mountains in collaboration with Kazi Yetu. The tea plants grow on a cooperatively managed nine-hectare plantation in the village of Bungu, Korogwe District. The area borders the protected Amani Nature Forest Reserve, a tropical rainforest known for its rich biodiversity.
The leaves are picked entirely by hand, selecting two young leaves and a bud. After harvest, the leaves are briefly pan-fired to stop oxidation.
Sakare Green brews a clear, light green infusion with a fresh, delicate aroma. The taste of this green tea is balanced, showing a natural brightness characteristic of teas from the Usambara region. Production is led by local women and supports regenerative farming in the area.
Storing loose leaf tea correctly is important to preserve its freshness and flavour. Keep it away from the four elements that affect quality: air, heat, light, and moisture.
