Satemwa Dark is a fermented dark tea from Satemwa Tea Estate in Thyolo, southern Malawi. It is produced using the shu pu-erh method, in which the leaves are further fermented after oxidation. The process combines modern techniques with Satemwa’s signature approach of craftsmanship and experimentation.
The infusion turns deep mahogany brown and releases aromas of damp forest, earth and wood. On the palate, the tea is soft and rounded, with earthy and spicy tones and a light hint of licorice.
Satemwa Dark represents an African interpretation of a classic dark tea: balanced, characterful, and distinctly Malawian.
Storing loose leaf tea correctly is important to preserve its freshness and flavour. Keep it away from the four elements that affect quality: air, heat, light, and moisture.
