The result was a rich and varied body of work by photographers Jo De Pauw, Sarah De Zutter, Peter Vancoillie, and Virginie Vlaminck: from atmospheric nature photography and breathtaking landscapes to intriguing portraits and vivid street photography from different corners of the world.

Support for Myanmar

During this second edition of PUUR as well, the organisation donated a portion of the proceeds to a good cause. This year, the exhibition was held in the spirit of Myanmar. The country has long been afflicted by an ongoing civil war. In April of this year, it was also struck by a severe earthquake. The region around Mandalay, home to Mogok Tea, was among the hardest hit.

Mogok Tea up close

Phyu Thwe, founder of Mogok Tea, was determined to attend the event in person. The tea she produces comes from the Five Trees Estate, where Mogok Tea is based. The team there continues to work under difficult circumstances, keeping the estate a source of income and support for the families in Kyauk Saung. Tea Kulture supports families in this region with medical assistance. Read more about it in our blog article.

Tea with a story

Visitors had the opportunity throughout the weekend to discover the various teas from Mogok, including Black Ruby, Tree Spirit, and Tiny Temple. They received detailed information about the teas and the situation in Mogok. The tasting took place in collaboration with Tea Kulture, offering visitors the chance to discover both the flavours and the story behind the tea.

A strong second edition

The combination of a compelling exhibition and a meaningful cause made this edition stand out. PUUR brought together strong photographic work while at the same time drawing attention to a region that needs support today.
