An oolong tea from the Satemwa Tea Estate in Malawi.
Satemwa Tea Estate is located in the Shire Highlands of the Thyolo district in Malawi. The estate has existed since 1923 and is a family business, today with the third generation at the helm. All leaves are hand-picked by approximately 1,800 workers.
Where Malawian tea once disappeared anonymously into international blends, Satemwa deliberately focuses on specialty tea: white teas, green varieties, oolongs, and black teas, each under their own name. The estate has its own clinic and school for workers and the local community.
