Tanzania

Tanzania is among the most important tea producers in Africa. The tea fields are spread across four regions, with the Southern Highlands forming the centre, where plantations sit at altitudes of 1,700 to 2,200 metres. Around 32,000 small-scale growers are responsible for approximately one third of total production.

The majority of tea leaves the country as anonymous CTC tea for blends. A growing number of producers is deliberately choosing orthodox processing and keeping the entire chain within the country: from picking to packaging.
